I’ll be the first to admit that the Quora monetization announcement definitely made me scratch my head a little.

It sounded very odd to me.

Quora is a place where people ask questions and get answers.

How in the world can you make money doing that?

All I knew was that Quora was a great place to build brand awareness and get some eyes on your content.

So, I did what any other content creator would do and created my own Quora space to see what the fuss is all about.

So if you want to know what this whole monetization process looks like and how it works then keep reading.

What Is Quora Monetization?

Back around the summer of 2021, Quora announced that it would be giving “creators” on the platform were now going to be able to get paid for their answers.

This was going to be under the new Quora+ platform which is very similar to Mediums paywall system.

Basically, certain answers and spaces will be put behind a $5 a month paywall that users will subscribe to in order to view certain content.

However, the creators are also able to monetize their own spaces and decide how much the paywall is going to be.

So a creator can not only have monetized answers on Quora, but they can also have a fully monetized Quora Space.

What Are Quora Spaces?

creating a quora space

Quora spaces seem to be something that confuses a lot of people. But the best way to think about it is like a Facebook group but for Quora.

You can create your own space, and just like on Facebook, you are responsible for making good content that is going to draw people to your space.

You can publish content but you can also open your space so that people can ask questions there.

To be fully transparent, I do have my own Quora space that I just opened, and growing one is not as easy as you may think.

Even though I get thousands of views a month, it takes a lot for people to decide to join a space. So make sure that you give yourself the time you need to grow on the platform first.

What Are The Quora Monetization Requirements?

There are no requirements to get monetized other than the fact that you need to be in one of the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Belgium
  • Canada
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Hong Kong
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Ireland
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Malta
  • Mexico
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Portugal
  • Singapore
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom
  • United States

If you are not in one of these countries then you will unfortunately not be able to make money through Quora for the time being.

However, if you own a space, Quora will notify you if and when your country becomes eligible.

How Much Money Can You Make From Quora Monetization?

To be very honest, if you are looking to get rich, it probably won’t be from Quora monetization alone.

The amount that you can get paid on Quora through monetization varies greatly. However, on average, you can expect to make anywhere from $20-$300 a month.

I know that is a big range.

That is because the amount you make depends entirely on the ads that were shown on the page and how many views that page got.

Since each ad is different, and each one is paying a different amount to be on the space, there is no way to determine an exact number on how much you will get paid per view.

Is Quora Monetization Worth It?

At this moment, focussing on getting your Quora content monetized is just not worth it.

I saw someone who got over 100,000 views and only made about $40.

If I compare that to getting 100,000 views on youtube, then Quora just doesn’t take the cake for me.

One thing that really bothers me about the monetization process is how little information is available about it.

It seems like no one knows how you can join, which answers get monetized, and which don’t. The same thing goes for the Quora Partner Program.

It looks like Quora just randomly chooses people to get paid for asking questions but some of these people never even asked questions on Quora before.

If you want to make it into some kind of passive income stream that will get you grocery money in the future then maybe you can give it a shot.

Otherwise, the efforts that you may be putting into the site may not be worth it for you monetarily.

What Is The Best Way To Monetize Your Quora Account?

What you should be focusing on is doing outreach, answering questions with good information, and using the platform to grow your online presence.

If you have monetized your other platforms well, then you will probably make a lot more money there instead of on Quora.

Looking at affiliate sales alone, getting 100,000 views on your website or blog could mean making anything from $90-$3000 dollars on average.

The best way to monetize your Quora account is to have a good website, blog, landing page, or youtube channel set up and then link to your content.

Not only will this boost your traffic but it will be good for you Google E-A-T to see that you have a presence on other online platforms.

Especially one with such a high domain authority like Quora.

Final Thoughts

If you are thinking about making a quick buck online, then Quora is not going to be the place for you to do so.

Matter of fact, after all of my years online, I would go as far as saying: there is no way to make quick money online.

Yeah, I said it.

Unless you already have an established platform or some investment money to begin with, you are going to be in it for the long haul.

But if you looking to build your brand and increase traffic to your content for free, then Quora is going to be a great place for you to do that.

I generally find that the people who find my content through Quora are also the ones who tend to look at other content on my site as well.

This is what creates longer sessions and that is what the SEO algorithm loves to see. So from that standpoint, Quora has been a great resource for me.

However, I haven’t tried to make money from the platform at all and it is not my priority.

Maybe if they develop their platform so that it becomes as attractive as blogging or being a youtuber then it will be something to look into in the future.
