4 Amazing SEO Tools for Free Keyword Research

Here are some great SEO tools that I have now used for years and that are fully capable of helping you boost your SEO.

I use these for both my youtube channel and my websites so these are one-size-fits-all tools.

One of them has even helped me rank very quickly on Google search but more about that when I get to that tool.

Now before we get started, if you feel like you need to learn a bit more about the basics of SEO, then I recommend you read my beginners guide to SEO first.

Let’s get started.

1-Answer the Public

What is answer the public

If you are looking for an easy and simple way to find keywords then Answer the Public is going to be a great tool for you.

This tool gathers all of the search terms and keywords from Google’s database and presents it to you in a unique visual cloud (or web, as I call it).

ANSWER THE PUBLIC free keyword research

This is the only tool that I have found so far that presents keywords in this way and it is very innovative.

Not only that, but it is also very beginner-friendly.

It does have a paid tier as well, but with the free version, you will be able to do 3 free searches every day.

You may be thinking: WHAT?! ONLY 3??

Trust me, 3 is more than enough.

Let me show you why.

How to do keyword research with Answer the Public

Simply head over to Answer the Public and type in the keyword that you want to research.

With that single keyword, Answer the Public will give you dozens or hundreds of other keywords related to that search term.

It will also categorize them in the most popular search prefixes:

  • what
  • where
  • when
  • why
  • how
  • is

Laying it out in this way is guaranteed to give you long-tail keywords that are going to be much easier for you to rank for on Google.

Who can use Answer the Public?

Answer the Public is perfect for:

  • Youtubers
  • Bloggers
  • Affiliate Marketers
  • Digital Marketers

As you can see, it is a perfect platform that can be used by many.

However, it is best to pair it with one of the other following SEO tools.

Why?

Because you do not get any keyword or SEO scores when you use Answer the Public. Having a keyword score is important when doing SEO.

So let’s look at the other tools that you can pair it with.

2-H-Supertools

hsupertools seo tools

This one is another highly underrated tool that is very powerful and honestly, deserves more hype. H-Supertools is a suite of SEO tools created by Hasan from H-Educated.

He is a digital entrepreneur who has helped thousands of people grow online and create an income from different online platforms.

I have been subscribed to his channel for years and his tips have helped me grow my online platform as well.

Hasan has created a suite of SEO tools that are great for digital content creators. My 3 favorite SEO tools from his platform are:

With these amazing tools, you will be able to find keywords, find the search volume, look at the competition, and look at the CPC for the keywords.

How to use H-Supertools for Keyword Research

H-Supertools has an amazing user interface and is very beginner-friendly.

All you have to do is enter your keyword into the search bar and you will get all the information you need.

This is an excellent tool to use alongside with Answer the Public.

You will get all the information you need to be able to decide whether this keyword is worth targeting or not.

I have to say, it is one of the easiest keyword tools that I have ever used and I recommend it to anyone who is a beginner.

3-Ahrefs Keyword Generator

ahrefs keyword generator

If you have done any research about SEO tools then you know that Ahrefs is one of the SEO powerhouses.

And for good reason.

This one tool not only can analyze your entire website, domain, backlinks, SEO, and so much more. But it also is one of the best (if not, the best) keyword research tools on the market.

It literally will cut all of your work in half.

However, it is also super expensive.

I am talking $99 a month expensive.

So you can imagine my relief when I found out that they have a free keyword generator tool that they give everybody access to.

How to use Ahreft Keyword Generator for keyword research

Compared to their robust Ahrefs tool, their keyword generator is very simple.

You enter your keyword and choose which country you are trying to target.

Then click “Find Keywords.”

There is no cap on how many keywords you can research. However, once you do a couple of researchers in a row, you will start to get some Recaptchas that you will have to do.

After this you will get a list where you see:

  • phrase match
  • questions
  • keywords
  • KD (keyword difficulty)
  • volume

You will also be able to see when the information for each keyword was last updated.

What you want to focus on are the KD and volume.

What Ahrefs is good at is telling you how hard it is going to be for you to rank for certain keywords. So as you can see in the image above, the general term “web hosting” is way too hard for me to try to aim for now.

You want to aim for keywords that are light to dark green. The lower the number, the better.

This is where you can click “Questions” to get more longtail keywords. You can see in the image below that I get keywords that are more in the green and easier to target.

From there you can even take it a step further and take one of the green keywords, and enter it into the search bar again.

For example, I will take “what is web hosting?” and redo a search. If you are lucky, you will get an even easier keyword that you can possibly rank for.

As you can see, it is very simple and straightforward.

4-Google Keyword Planner

google keywords planner

Last but not least, we come to my own personal favorite which is Google’s very own Keyword Planner.

Remember how I mentioned that there was one tool that helped me rank on Google faster?

This is the one.

I have talked about this tool on this blog and on my youtube channel several times before. I even have full tutorials about it.

It is hands-down one of the tools that I use the most for both my Youtube channel and blogs and the best thing is that it is totally free.

Just to give you some perspective, I have been blogging for three months and these are the results that I have gotten from using this tool:

how to boost your seo with Google keyword planner

Google SEO usually doesn’t kick in for about 6 months but as you can see, it is already starting to work its magic.

Many people do not know this, but Google Ads has its very own keyword research tool incorporated into the platform. It is completely free for anyone who has a Google Ads account.

If you want to learn how you can get access for free (without running ads) then you can read the full tutorial to get started.

Google Keywords Planner gives you all the search terms that people are typing into Google. So you get all of the information straight from the source itself.

It can be a bit intimidating as the under interface is a bit more complicated than the others. But you will easily get used to it.

How to use Google Keyword Planner for Keyword Research

I already have a full guide and tutorial showing how to use the tool but I will sum it up for you.

The first thing you need to do is make sure that your language and target country settings are correct.

How to use Google Keyword Planner for Keyword Research

Enter the keyword that you want to research and then click “Get Results.”

From there you will get a full list showing you the following:

  • average monthly searches
  • last years trend
  • the last three months trend
  • competition difficulty
  • bid ranges

You do not need to focus on bid ranges for now so no need to look at that.

Look at the keywords that you get and filter them so that you get the keywords with the most search volumes and lowest competition.

finding good keywords on google keyword planner

Once you do this you will find some good target keywords that you will be able to do add to your titles and descriptions.

But the true power of this tool is for tags.

The list of keywords that you get for your search term can easily be added as tags as well. When I look at my analytics, I see that I rank for a lot of my tags.

All of my tags come from Google Keyword Planner and they have brought in a lot more traffic this month.

But that’s not all.

I also use them as tags in my youtube description and this month, the SEO really kicked in as you can see below:

how to rank youtube videos on google

Youtube search and Google Search are now my top two sources of traffic.

So do not underestimate the power of these tools.

Final Thoughts

SEO is by far one of my favorite things to do and to talk about.

Hence, why I already got the name “The SEO Queen.”

But it’s because I know how powerful it can be. Search traffic is the only traffic that you should be targeting. It is the only organic traffic that can guarantee some kind of scalability for your online platform.

Google gets around 3 billion searches every month and Youtube gets around 3 million every day.

Those are crazy numbers but there is one takeaway from them: people are looking for information.

So why not target the traffic that you know is already there and is bound to come in?

Not to mention, getting organic traffic is the fastest way to boost your domain and/or channel authority.

I know it takes time, but trust me, the months fly by so quickly.

Before you know it, the traffic will find you and you will have gotten all the fruits of your labor.
